About the Yetis
The Yetis comprises three ice hockey teams fielding players of advanced ability to rookies eager to improve on their skills. All teams are trained by certified coaches weekly, with A and B teams competing in the British University Ice Hockey Association divisions and the C team set to compete with the large amount of teams based in London. The A/B team train at Streatham Ice Rink from 14:15-15:45 on Wednesdays. The C team also train at Streatham Ice Rink on Wednesdays from 13:45-14:45. Ice Hockey training operates with the objective of providing a fun and competitive atmosphere but also the necessary skills required to play ice hockey at a competitive level.
The A team comprises of the most experienced players within the club and have helped contribute to the club's successful history. The team enjoyed their best spell of success in 2014-2015 when winning both the Division 2
and Tier 2 Nationals. Overall, the Yetis have achieved the Division 2 title twice in 2014-2015 and
2016-2017 and the Division 3 title in 2012-2013. As of the 2019-2020 season the A team will be playing Division 2 Checking South with the aim of promoting their way into Division 1.
The B team comprises of experienced players who either have moderate ice hockey experience or who have worked their way up from the Yetis development programme in the C team. This is also a successful team having most recently won Tier IV Nationals in April 2019 and also winning the Division 2 Non-checking title in 2015-2016. As of the 2019-2020 season, the B team will be playing in Division 2 South Non-checking with the aim of promoting their way into Division 1 South Non-checking.
Founded in 2015, the C team is entering its fourth year and we’re always looking for new teammates to join! Previously, the C Team has participated in leagues, mixed scrimmages, and a ton of friendlies; and even more icy fun is planned for this year! The team is aimed at those who have never skated before, or have never played ice hockey, or even those who have played before but want to ease back into the sport gently; whatever your ability, the C team will always welcome you. The team runs as a weekly one-hour session with matches held at weekends on rinks across London. Contact Vlad for more information.
